Java Developer - Full time
Description:
The Developer's role is to write, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, modifying and maintaining software specifications throughout the production life cycle. The Developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide status reports where required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning
- Assist developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
- Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.
- Research and document requirements of program users.

Acquisition & Deployment
- Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.

Operational Management
- Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
- Responsible for designing solutions according to specs, implementing, integrating, testing and maintaining solutions.
- Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
- Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
- Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.
- Maintain and enhance Web site and/or related Web applications as necessary.
- Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior Developers.
Minimum Requirements
- Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or software engineering preferred and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Certifications in Java Programming preferred.

Knowledge & Experience
- Expertise in Java Programming Language.
- Working technical knowledge of JavaScript, HTML with a working knowledge of HTTP and CSS.
- Knowledge of jQuery and subversion a plus.
- Extensive database and operating systems experience with Linux, SQL and MySQL.
- Understanding of e-commerce platforms such as ATG.
- Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including web services.
- Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy and security practices and laws.
