The Secret to a Great-Looking Chest

One of the most beautiful muscle groups in the body is the chest. When properly developed, it "pops out" from underneath your shirt. Any person who has ever properly developed the chest knows how satisfying this feels.

Is this egotistical? Of course! Satisfying? Most definitely! Here are some of the most asked questions I receive concerning chest development:

1. "Do I perform low reps or high reps?"
2. "Do I begin my training with the bench press or another exercise first?"
3. "Do I take 30 seconds or two minutes between sets?"

The problem with these questions is that they assume there is only ONE way to perform an exercise. We all continue to search for the "magic bullet." As I have pointed out many times, the key to successfully building a specific muscle group is through CHANGE and OVERLOAD.

I'm outlining several parameters to change your chest workout -- or any workout for that matter -- using the mechanism of change and creativity. You may already know that the body is designed to adapt. Internally, it is always looking to learn and adapt to any movement you perform. Always think of the body from the inside-out! After adaptation occurs, it's difficult to continue progressing. However, not only do we physiologically adapt, but we psychologically adapt as well. Hey, we get bored if we keep doing the same thing all the time! Remember: CHANGE IS GOOD!

I'm not only detailing how one changes parameters of a chest routine but also giving an example of a chest routine that makes use of all the methods. As always, I'm providing my "idiot's guide" to understanding the chest. After all, if you want to improve or change a specific muscle group, you should know something about it.
