10 More Nasty Hall of Shame Foods

Font Size: Reset

The Hall of Shame honors the worst of our guilty pleasures -- unhealthy food. Here are this week's nominees:

A complicated, multi-stacked mess
A disgusting meal/snack that my husband had invented is called the Perfect Popcorn Pocket Sandwich. It includes the following: one bag of Heavily Buttered Microwave popcorn (pref. Orville Redenbacher's Movie Theater Butter Popcorn with pour over butter), one pack Cinnamon Graham Crackers (approximately eight), half bag of marshmallows, an immeasurable amount of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and an immeasurable amount of Chunky Peanut Butter (held together with Reddi-Wip). Glue the four graham crackers together with peanut butter marshmallows and Reddi-Wip. Top it with popcorn, lots of chocolate syrup and a scoop of peanut butter -- and top that off with four graham crackers. Add remaining ingredients to the top of the crackers. Must be rinsed down with a diet soda, though!!!!

The worst of all -- school lunches
Here are some sample meals that would make anyone's waistline bulge. Beef fingers, (strips of beef battered and deep fried) instant mashed potatoes with gravy, a large biscuit, green beans and a fudge bar. Another one is chili-cheese dog, seasoned fries (chili and cheese optional on these), pears in heavy syrup and a brownie. Where did I get these? Not from a local restaurant but instead from the menu at my child's school. Is it any wonder that we have a childhood obesity problem? We really need to be watching what our children eat as well as how much activity they are doing each day.

Father-in-law goes too far at the table
I personally have to leave the table when my father-in-law puts this combo on his plate at the Sunday dinner table. Mashed potatoes on the bottom, bread with apple butter next and gravy over the whole thing!!! Thinking about it makes me sick!

PB & mayo on multigrain bread
My roommate makes peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. He makes them on 12-grain bread "so they're healthy." He thinks adding iceburg lettuce makes it better, too. Not as bad as an old boyfriend who used to make bologna, salami, cheddar and pickle sandwiches on white bread with Ranch dressing, topped with a layer of microwaved tater tots.
