While many comedians feast on fat jokes, caustic comic Lisa Lampanelli didn’t find it very funny to be the butt of such bad-natured ribbing. So, the “queen of mean” turned to surgery to put her porky past behind her.
While we’re not big on weight loss surgery here at eDiets, we are supportive of those who work to regain control of their health.
So… did ya hear the one about the overweight comic who shrunk by more than 100 pounds?
Yes, that’s how much weight Lampanelli, 52, has been able to lose since getting serious about her flabby figure.
The Huffington Post reported that Lampanelli, a Comedy Central regular who’s known for her bawdy approach to humor, lost 106 pounds after having gastric-sleeve surgery.
“I feel like I’ve reached the weight I’m supposed to be. I’m officially a skinny bitch!” Lampanelli boasted.
“My body is still a work in progress. I have to figure out my addiction issue and how I even got overweight in the first place."
Lampanelli may have resorted to surgery to shed so much weight, but she is relying on regular exercise and portion control to maintain her new figure.
During an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, Lampanelli revealed her past frustrations.
"For 32 years –- from 18 to 50 –- I tried everything on the planet, and once I had a clean slate with that I said, 'You know what? Nothing's working for me. I'm going to treat this like the addiction that it is. I'm going to get this surgery and use it as a tool.' That's all it is, a tool to help me get over it," she said.
Wetpaint.com recently reported, "Lisa Lampanelli’s dramatic transformation is no laughing matter. The well-known funny lady has changed so much we barely recognized her! Lisa recently stepped out for a celebrity event and debuted a look drastically different from the one she rocked back in January 2011…
“Where’d Lisa go?! The notoriously controversial comic hardly looks like herself… Decked out for the 2013 Animal League America Celebrity Gala hosted at New York City’s iconic Waldorf Astoria hotel, Lisa has both a stylish haircut and a much slimmer figure.”
At her heaviest, Lampanelli weighed 248 pounds; she now weighs 142 pounds.
